Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall

a note from the studio

A theme park in Orlando arranged as a chain of islands around a central lagoon, each one a different fictional world. Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle rise on the south island; Jurassic Park's gates open to the west; Marvel's heroes hold the north. The park opened in May 1999 and the Wizarding World joined it eleven years later.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

the place

Islands of Adventure is a theme park inside Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, occupying about 101 acres on the south side of Universal Boulevard. The park is laid out as a ring of eight themed islands around a central lagoon: Port of Entry, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Skull Island, Jurassic Park, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Hogsmeade, the Lost Continent, and Seuss Landing. Universal Orlando is owned by Comcast through its NBCUniversal subsidiary. The resort sits about 13 kilometres southwest of downtown Orlando.

the visit

The park opens daily, with hours that stretch from early morning to late evening in peak season and contract through winter. A single-day ticket admits one park; a Park-to-Park ticket adds access to neighbouring Universal Studios Florida and the Hogwarts Express train between the two. Universal Express line-skip is sold separately or bundled with on-site hotel stays. Single-rider lines run on most major attractions. The closest international airport is Orlando International, about 22 kilometres east, with direct shuttle service to the resort.

the year

Islands of Adventure opened on 28 May 1999 as the second gate of what was then Universal Studios Escape. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Hogsmeade opened on 18 June 2010, with Hogwarts Castle anchoring the south island and the Forbidden Journey dark ride inside it. Skull Island: Reign of Kong opened in 2016, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in 2019, and Jurassic World VelociCoaster on the former Triceratops Discovery Trail site in 2021. The park has cycled rides through Marvel Super Hero Island while keeping the originals in place.

about the piece in your home

It has been a meaningful gift for many of our customers with annual passes or memorable trips. A Small or Medium suits a child's room or family hallway, and the Coaster Set carries the park onto a kitchen table.

The vivid jewel-tone palette and stained-glass treatment suit eclectic-maximalist, child-room-magical, and pop-storybook interiors. It reads well in a playroom, a media room, or a panelled hall above a console.

The storybook-maximalist wave favours specific named worlds over generic fantasy art. A named park entry with Hogsmeade and Jurassic gate iconography sits closer to that brief than abstract castle silhouettes.

A single Large reads well above a standard three-seat sofa. For wider walls, a four-tile Mural or nine-tile Mural lets the lagoon and surrounding islands stretch across a family-room scale.

Yes, with the Dura Satin or Matte finish. Both are scratch-resistant and tolerate steam and splash without dulling, suitable for backsplashes, shower walls, and powder-room features.

A soft microfibre cloth and clean water. The colour lives in the ceramic surface beneath a thin glossy finish, so household cleaners are not needed and abrasives should be avoided.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is painted in the studio's own visual language and hand-finished in Knoxville, Tennessee. There is no licensing and no third-party reproduction.
