a note from the studio

A tower at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, 1,149 feet of steel, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. The pod at the top holds a casino, a restaurant, and four thrill rides that hang off the structure 800 feet above Las Vegas Boulevard. On a clear evening the light from the city reaches a long way out into the Mojave.

about The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

The Strat sits at the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip, in the Las Vegas Valley of southern Nevada. The tower rises 1,149 feet, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the second-tallest building west of the Mississippi. It opened in 1996 as the Stratosphere Tower and was rebranded as The Strat Hotel, Casino and SkyPod in 2019 under Golden Entertainment ownership. The base holds a hotel and casino; the SkyPod and its thrill rides occupy the top of the structure.

the visit

Two visits live inside the same building. The base is a Las Vegas hotel and casino on Las Vegas Boulevard, open around the clock. The SkyPod is reached by a separate elevator and runs as a ticketed attraction with its own hours. The observation decks look out over the Spring Mountains to the west and the Strip running south. Four thrill rides operate at the top: the SkyJump controlled-cable descent, the Big Shot, the X-Scream tilting platform, and the Insanity spinning arm. The rides run only in fair weather.

the light

Las Vegas is one of the most light-polluted skies in North America, and the Strat is the easiest point in the city to see that light from above. After sunset the Strip lights up from the south end and the brightness rolls north toward the tower. From the SkyPod observation deck the Luxor pyramid's beam reads as a thin column of white well below; the Spring Mountains hold the western edge of the valley in deep blue. On a clear winter night the desert stars find a way in.

about the piece in your home

It travels well to anyone who knows the city, whether a wedding in Vegas, a hospitality career, or a regular conference stay. A Small or Medium with the studio's handwritten note carries the night-skyline reading of the Strip.

The desert-night palette of the piece sits well with Modern Glam, Mid-century Modern, and Jewel-tone Maximalist rooms. Pair with brass, smoked glass, or deep walnut rather than pale oak.

Yes. The piece reads as Las Vegas after dark and lands well in residential bars, game rooms, and small commercial hospitality spaces. A Large or 4-tile Mural carries a feature wall behind a bar back.

A single Large covers most sofas. A 4-tile Mural anchors a long console or sectional. A 9-tile Mural is the right scale for a tall wall above a bar back or entry bench.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for vertical installs in bathrooms, kitchens, or showers. The colour is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure and holds up to steam.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is original work from the Wender Studios family in Knoxville, Tennessee. The eye is Reid Wender's. No licensing, no third-party art, single studio.
