Revenge of the Mummy

— the dark between two bursts of fire.

Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.
On the nightstand, a 6-inch on a walnut stand
Among the books, a 6-inch leaning into the spines
Beside the kettle, a 12-inch propped
Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall
Above the fire, the 24-inch in a walnut surround
a note from the studio

An indoor roller coaster wearing the skin of an Egyptian tomb. The queue is dressed as an archaeological dig set up by a film crew, then the dig turns on itself. The ride launches in the dark, runs backward, drops you into a chamber of warrior mummies and a ceiling of flame, and lets you out beside a soundstage door on Canal Street. Orlando families know the smell of the propane before they know the name of the coaster.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Revenge of the Mummy

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Revenge of the Mummy opened at Universal Studios Florida on 17 May 2004, replacing the Kongfrontation attraction in the park's New York section. The ride is an indoor steel roller coaster built by Premier Rides, themed around Stephen Sommers's Mummy film cycle and using practical fire effects, projected scarabs, and a linear induction motor launch. Riders enter through a queue dressed as a Hollywood film set built on top of an Imhotep dig, board a twelve-seat car, and travel through a Karnak-style chamber before the track reverses and drops them into a darkened second show building.

the air

The first thing most riders notice before the safety bar locks is the heat. The flame effects above the warrior-mummy chamber use real propane bursts that push a wave of hot air down across the seats, and the room is sealed enough that the smell of combustion stays in the queue between cycles. Universal lists a 48-inch height minimum and a ride time of just under three minutes. The car never goes outside; the entire experience lives inside one show building beside the soundstage facade on Canal Street.

the visit

Universal Studios Florida sits about ten miles south-west of downtown Orlando along Universal Boulevard. Single-day admission and a separate Express Pass are sold through Universal's site; Mummy is one of the headline attractions covered by the pass and tends to draw a 30 to 60 minute standby queue on a regular operating day. Lockers outside the entrance are required for loose articles. The ride accommodates riders 48 inches and taller, with single-rider and child-swap lanes; nearby quieter options in the same section include the Race Through New York show.

about the place

Inside Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, in the park's New York section along Canal Street. The same attraction name once ran at Universal Studios Hollywood, which closed its version in 2025.

The Orlando version opened on 17 May 2004, replacing Kongfrontation in the same show building. It was the first roller coaster Premier Rides built using a linear induction motor launch for Universal.

Yes. The track sits entirely inside one show building. There are no outdoor sections, no daylight drops, and the queue, launch, chamber, and unload are all enclosed.

The posted height minimum is 48 inches. A single-rider line and a child-swap room are both available at the entrance for groups with younger children.

About two minutes and forty-five seconds from launch to unload. Maximum speed is roughly 45 miles per hour, with one forward launch, a brief backward section, and a final forward drop.

Yes. The Imhotep ceiling-flame effect above the warrior chamber is produced by propane burners. Riders feel a sharp burst of heat and the smell often lingers through the unload tunnel.

about the piece in your home

It tends to land well with annual-pass families and former Orlando cast members. The Coaster or Small reads as an inside reference rather than a souvenir, especially with a handwritten note from the studio.

The deep ochre and warm black palette suits warm-modern, library-den, and dark-academia rooms. It also sits comfortably beside vintage film posters and game-room walls built around theme-park memorabilia.

Yes. The piece reads as warm tomb-light rather than horror, which is the register dark-academia rooms tend to favour. A Medium above a console or a Large over a reading chair both work.

Above a standard sofa, a single Large or a 4-tile Mural usually scales right. Above a console table, a Medium or a horizontal Triptych reads better than a Large.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any room with steam or splash. Both finishes are scratch-resistant and wipe clean; the Glossy finish is best kept to drier walls.

A microfibre cloth and plain water are enough for normal dust. For kitchen or bathroom installs in Dura Satin or Matte, the same cloth with a little mild soap is safe. Skip abrasive sponges and ammonia-based sprays.

Yes. Every WenderVista tile is painted in-house at the Knoxville studio and is not licensed from any third party. The image is exclusive to Wender Studios and is not sold through any other retailer.
