Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.
On the nightstand, a 6-inch on a walnut stand
Among the books, a 6-inch leaning into the spines
Beside the kettle, a 12-inch propped
Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall

a note from the studio

A 3.4-mile road course cut through the Schuyler County hills above Seneca Lake. The track grew out of a 6.6-mile street circuit run on the village's public roads from 1948. Today the Cup Series weekend in August brings crowds the size of a small city to a hillside that goes quiet again by Monday. The Boot, the Esses, the Bus Stop; the corners have names older than most drivers. from the studio

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Watkins Glen International race track

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Watkins Glen International sits in the town of Dix, Schuyler County, New York, about two miles southwest of the village of Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake's southern shore. The permanent course was built in 1956 after the original street circuit through the village became too dangerous to run. The track measures 3.4 miles in its long Boot configuration and 2.45 miles in the short configuration, with 11 turns including the Esses, the Boot, and the Bus Stop chicane. NASCAR has owned the property since 1997.

the year

The track's marquee weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen, held the first weekend of August since the Cup Series returned to the circuit in 1986 after a long absence. The Six Hours of The Glen, the IMSA endurance round, runs each June. Vintage racing fills the Grand Prix Festival, held on the original village street course each September. The track was also home to the United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980, twenty years of Formula 1 history.

the visit

The grounds are open during scheduled race weekends and during regular SCCA test days. Camping is permitted in dedicated lots, and the infield is accessible to ticket holders. Track tours run on select non-race weekends through the visitor center off NY-414. The village of Watkins Glen, two miles east, hosts the Grand Prix Festival each September on the original 6.6-mile street circuit, which is still marked with painted Tally turtles in the road.

about the piece in your home

A natural fit. The track is the defining landmark of Schuyler County for most racing fans and locals. A Medium framed for an office or den carries the place well.

The piece holds in motorsport-themed dens, mid-century-modern living rooms, and Finger Lakes lake-house interiors. The deep colors also work in masculine library spaces with leather and wood.

Vintage motorsport aesthetic, particularly the 1960s and 70s Formula 1 era, has grown into a recognized style category. The painted treatment here sits beside vintage track posters without copying them.

A single Large covers most sofas. A 4-tile Mural reads correctly over a long wall behind a sectional. For game rooms and bars, a Triptych works well above a bar back.

The Dura Satin or Matte finish handles temperature swings and the occasional shop dust. Mount it away from direct welding splatter or fuel spray.

Microfibre and water. For shop installations with light grease film, a drop of dish soap in water is fine. No solvents, no abrasives.

Yes. Hand-finished in our Knoxville studio by Reid Wender. No licensing, no third-party prints. Watkins Glen International joins our New York motorsport pieces.
