Mount Eisenhower stands at 4,780 feet in the Southern Presidential Range of the White Mountain National Forest. It was known as Mount Pleasant for most of its mapped history; the renaming was approved in 1972 to honor President Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose family had vacationed in the region. The peak lies between Mount Pierce and Mount Monroe along the Crawford Path, the oldest continuously used hiking trail in the United States, blazed in 1819.

The summit is above tree line, set in an open alpine zone of low krummholz, sedge, and exposed bedrock. The dome shape, rather than a point, makes the top feel like a small bald field with a high cairn at its centre. The exposure is real: weather from Mount Washington two miles north reaches Eisenhower quickly, and the ridgeline carries the wind across the open shoulders without anything to break it.

The standard approach climbs the Edmands Path from Mount Clinton Road, about 3.3 miles to the Eisenhower Loop junction near the summit. Many hikers fold the peak into a Crawford Path traverse from Highland Center to the Mizpah or Lakes of the Clouds huts run by the Appalachian Mountain Club. Treat the route as full alpine: the open summit offers no shelter, and conditions on the ridge can change faster than the forecast.
