Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.
On the nightstand, a 6-inch on a walnut stand
Among the books, a 6-inch leaning into the spines
Beside the kettle, a 12-inch propped
Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall

a note from the studio

The centrepiece ride of the Diagon Alley expansion at Universal Studios Florida, opened July 8, 2014. A multi-dimensional steel coaster sealed inside a recreated Gringotts Wizarding Bank, with a forty-foot Ukrainian Ironbelly perched on the dome that breathes real flame every ten minutes. The queue moves through marble halls and goblin tellers before the cars ever leave the platform.

about Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts sits at the centre of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Diagon Alley), a 20-acre expansion that opened at Universal Studios Florida on July 8, 2014. The attraction occupies the footprint of the former Jaws ride and was built around a full-scale recreation of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, designed by Universal Creative with Stuart Craig, the production designer of all eight Warner Bros. Harry Potter films. A 40-foot Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon crowns the dome and breathes propane flame at scheduled intervals.

the stone

The bank facade renders Stuart Craig's film design in cast stone, marble veneer, and gilded leaf, fronted by twin chimera statues and the brass-clad doors of the entry hall. Inside, the lobby holds a 30-foot ceiling, crystal chandeliers, and animatronic goblin tellers based on the character designs from the films. The marble columns and floor pattern continue the geometric vocabulary established along Diagon Alley itself, so the transition from street to bank reads as continuous architecture rather than themed set.

the visit

The ride is included with standard park admission to Universal Studios Florida; Universal Express Pass is offered for an additional fee at peak times. Single-rider and child-swap queues are open most days. Riders must be at least 42 inches (107 centimetres) tall. The attraction uses KUKA robocoaster arms paired with high-definition 3D projection, so guests prone to motion sensitivity may want to use the test seat outside the queue. The dragon on the roof breathes flame roughly every ten minutes throughout park hours.

common questions

What people ask.

A few questions we get about Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

The ride opened on July 8, 2014, as the centrepiece of the Diagon Alley expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida.

A multi-dimensional indoor steel coaster combined with a 3D dark ride. The cars use KUKA robocoaster arms that pitch and rotate during the track sequence, paired with high-definition screen projections.

Yes. The 40-foot Ukrainian Ironbelly atop Gringotts breathes a propane flame roughly every ten minutes during operating hours, audible across Diagon Alley and visible from the London waterfront set across the way.

Universal Creative designed the attraction in collaboration with Stuart Craig, the production designer of the eight Warner Bros. Harry Potter films. Craig's original drawings of the bank were translated almost line-for-line into the built environment.

Riders must be at least 42 inches (107 centimetres) tall. Universal offers a child-swap room so a family with a small child can ride in turns without losing place in line.

about the piece in your home

For a Harry Potter reader or a Universal Orlando regular, the tile reads as a piece of a place they already know. A Small or Medium in Glossy carries the gold-and-marble detail well.

The bronze, ivory, and emerald palette sits well with Library-Modern, Dark Academia, and Maximalist rooms. It also lifts against a deep navy or oxblood wall where the gold leaf can do its work.

Yes. Dark Academia leans on library-tone metals, deep stained wood, and architectural detail; the bank's marble and gilt slot into that visual family. A Large above a desk reads at the right scale.

Above a sofa, a single Large or a 4-tile Mural reads at the right scale. Above a console, a Medium is usually enough; a 9-tile Mural fits a stairwell or a long wall.

Yes. Order the tile in the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any room with moisture. Both are scratch-resistant and clean with a microfibre cloth and water.

A dry or lightly damp microfibre cloth is enough. No solvents, no abrasives. The colour lives in the ceramic surface, so wiping does not lift it.

Yes. Every WenderVista tile is original to our studio in Knoxville, Tennessee, painted in our stained-glass and alcohol-ink visual language. No licensed imagery.
