— a city the prairie still shows through.
“A north Texas city between Dallas and Fort Worth, set on the prairie that gave it its name. The 2020 census put the population just under two hundred thousand. Lone Star Park brings the thoroughbreds in April; Joe Pool Lake holds the southern edge. Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics plant has built fighter aircraft on the same site since 1942. Asia Times Square pulls a steady weekend crowd from across the Metroplex.
Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.
Pick any four 4-inch tiles — National Parks you've been to, a Smokies set, the four seasons of one place. $ for a set of , cork-backed, ready to live on the table.
Grand Prairie sits in north Texas, mostly in Dallas County with portions extending into Tarrant and Ellis Counties, on a stretch of the Trinity River drainage that ran open prairie until settlement began in 1863. The 2020 federal census recorded a population of about 196,100. The city is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area, the fourth-largest in the United States. Interstate 30 cuts east-west through the centre, putting downtown Dallas about twenty kilometres east and downtown Fort Worth about thirty kilometres west.
North Texas runs four distinct seasons on a prairie clock. March brings bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush along the lake shore and out along the I-30 right-of-way; the Texas Department of Transportation has scattered seed along these verges for decades. Summer holds the upper nineties Fahrenheit and brings the Lone Star Park meet to full crowd. October cools quickly. Joe Pool Lake fills again with the autumn rains that follow the late-summer drought. Winters stay mild but occasionally drop into a hard freeze, as in February 2021.
Lone Star Park, on the city's western edge, runs live thoroughbred racing from April through July and again in the autumn. Joe Pool Lake, formed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1985, frames the south side and supports Loyd Park and Cedar Hill State Park. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor occupies the older park grounds on the north. Asia Times Square, opened in 2005 along Jefferson Boulevard, anchors one of the largest Asian-American retail districts in north Texas, with a weekend night market through the warmer months.
