Disneyland

— the castle the country grew up with.

Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.
On the nightstand, a 6-inch on a walnut stand
Among the books, a 6-inch leaning into the spines
Beside the kettle, a 12-inch propped
Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall
Above the fire, the 24-inch in a walnut surround
a note from the studio

The original Disney park, opened by Walt Disney on July 17, 1955, on a former orange grove in Anaheim. Sleeping Beauty Castle sits at the centre of the wheel, with Main Street, U.S.A. leading up to it and the four lands fanning out behind. It is the only Disney park Walt himself walked. A second gate, Disney California Adventure, opened across the esplanade in 2001. — from the studio

Disneyland, on ceramic.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

the place

Disneyland is a theme park in Anaheim, California, about 25 miles south-east of downtown Los Angeles. Walt Disney opened the park to the public on July 17, 1955, on a 160-acre parcel of orange groves the Disney company had quietly assembled the year before. It is the only Disney theme park designed and built under Walt Disney's direct supervision, and the only one he walked. The park anchors the wider Disneyland Resort, which today also includes Disney California Adventure and the Downtown Disney shopping district.

the stone

Sleeping Beauty Castle sits at the hub of the park, with Main Street, U.S.A. running south from the entrance and the original four lands fanning out behind it: Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. New Orleans Square was added in 1966, the only land Walt Disney himself opened, with Pirates of the Caribbean following in March 1967. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened in May 2019. The castle, despite its scale, stands only about 77 feet tall.

the visit

Disneyland uses a date-based ticket and reservation system, so the day a guest visits is fixed at purchase and ticket prices vary by demand tier. The Genie+ service replaced the legacy paper FastPass in 2021 and is sold separately. The park sits at the centre of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, with the second gate, Disney California Adventure, across a short pedestrian esplanade. Mid-week visits outside Southern California school holidays draw the shortest standby lines.

A few questions we get about Disneyland — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

Walt Disney opened the park on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, California. The opening day is remembered for long lines, counterfeit tickets, and unfinished asphalt, and is sometimes called Black Sunday inside the company.

Yes. Disneyland in Anaheim is the only Disney theme park designed and built under Walt Disney's direct supervision and the only one he ever walked. He died in December 1966.

The original four lands are Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland, arrayed around the castle hub at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Mickey's Toontown, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge have been added since.

Sleeping Beauty Castle, modelled in part on Neuschwanstein in Bavaria. It stands about 77 feet tall, which makes it the shortest of the Disney castles, but its hub position keeps it central to the park's whole geometry.

Yes. Disneyland uses a date-based ticket system, and most days also require a park reservation tied to the ticket. The reservation is included with the purchase and is selected at the time of booking.

about the piece in your home

It carries well for that. Annual passholders, Anaheim locals, and lifelong Disney fans tend to read the castle and the Main Street perspective on sight. A Medium with a handwritten note from the studio lands warmly.

The palette runs warm pastel, twilight blue, and gold, so it sits in playroom, family-room, and warm transitional spaces. White trim, soft wood, and reading-nook settings hold it well.

Yes. The current nostalgia-modern register pulls Americana, mid-century pastels, and family iconography into otherwise restrained rooms. The Disneyland tile reads cleanly inside that vocabulary as a single warm focal piece.

Above a standard sofa, a single Large is the natural choice. Above a child's bed or a reading nook, a Small or Medium reads better. A 4-tile Mural carries a longer playroom wall.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for bathrooms, showers, and kitchen backsplashes. Both resist water and scratching. The Glossy finish is for framed wall art only.

A microfibre cloth and water are enough for the Glossy finish. In a wet area with Dura Satin or Matte, a mild non-abrasive cleaner is fine. No bleach, no scouring pads.

Yes. Every WenderVista tile is painted in the studio's own visual language and is not licensed from any third party. The work depicts a public landmark and is sold as an original Wender Studios piece.
