Hyperia

— Britain's tallest drop, in a single breath.

Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

about Hyperia

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Hyperia is a steel hyper coaster at Thorpe Park Resort in Chertsey, Surrey, about 33 kilometres south-west of central London. Manufactured by Mack Rides of Waldkirch, Germany, it opened to the public on 24 May 2024. The lift hill reaches 236 feet (72 metres), making Hyperia the tallest roller coaster in the United Kingdom; the top speed of approximately 80 miles per hour also makes it the country's fastest. The layout includes a 95-degree first drop, a 64-metre top hat, and an inverted stall.

the visit

Thorpe Park is open from mid-March through early November, with a Fright Nights overlay on October weekends. Entry to Hyperia is included with a standard park ticket. The minimum height is 1.4 metres; Single Rider and Ride Access (RAP) queues are both available. Wait times on a peak summer Saturday routinely exceed 90 minutes for the front row; the back row is shorter. The resort is reached from London Waterloo by train to Staines-upon-Thames, then a shuttle bus or short taxi ride.

the year

The resort opens around mid-March and closes for the season in early November, with Fright Nights running through October weekends. Hyperia's queue is longest during UK school-holiday weeks: late May, late July through August, and the October half-term. The ride is sensitive to high winds and closes at sustained gusts; Surrey's wet spring weeks see more frequent operational holds than the drier summer months. Early-entry tickets for resort hotel guests buy roughly an hour ahead of general admission.

about the piece in your home

Coaster collectors and Thorpe Park regulars have sent WenderVista pieces of their first-rider days to family. A Small or Medium with a studio note carries the memory without crowding a shelf.

The orange-and-steel palette and the curved track sit well in industrial-modern, retro-futurist, and bold-graphic interiors. It holds against grey, charcoal, and warm wood.

Industrial-modern and retro-futurism have held as steady currents in residential decor. A Hyperia tile reads as kinetic and architectural without quoting a specific brand or sponsor.

A single Large reads at sofa scale. A 4-tile Mural fills a longer wall; a 9-tile Mural carries a great room. A Medium or pair of Smalls works above most consoles.

Yes, in the Dura Satin or Matte finish. Both are scratch-resistant and read well in humid rooms. Glossy is best kept to dry wall installations.

A soft microfibre cloth and water. No abrasive cleaners and no solvents. The colour lives in the ceramic surface and the thin top finish keeps it stable for ordinary household wiping.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is curated by Reid Wender and hand-finished in the Knoxville studio. We do not license images in or out.
