Gulliver's World Resort

— a small world built to a child's scale.

Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.

a note from the studio

A family theme park on the outskirts of Warrington, in the northwest of England. Gulliver's World opened in 1989 as the second of the four Gulliver's parks, with rides and themed lands scaled for children between two and thirteen rather than for adolescents. A small resort hotel and a row of lodges sit alongside the gates. The park draws families from across Cheshire, Manchester, and Liverpool.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Gulliver's World Resort

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Gulliver's World sits in Old Hall, on the northwestern edge of Warrington in the English county of Cheshire. It opened in 1989 as the second of four Gulliver's family parks, after Gulliver's Kingdom at Matlock Bath in 1978. The site falls inside the M6 / M62 / M56 motorway triangle and serves a catchment that includes Liverpool, Manchester, and most of the northwest. The park, hotel, and lodges are owned and operated by the Gulliver's group, which remains independent of the larger UK theme-park chains and runs its parks on a small-and-quiet model.

the visit

The park is laid out as a series of themed lands, Lilliput Land, Adventure Land, Smuggler's Wharf among them, built around roughly forty rides aimed at children aged two to thirteen rather than at older teens or thrill-seekers. Tickets are sold by date and capacity is metered. The season runs from late March through the October half-term, with Halloween and Christmas event weekends extending into November and December. Wheelchair access is good across the central paths, though some ride boarding points involve steps and a transfer.

the year

Three weekend programmes shape the calendar. The Halloween Spooktacular runs Friday through Sunday from late September through October half-term, with themed lighting after dusk. Fireworks weekends bracket Bonfire Night in early November. The Christmas at Gulliver's programme runs most weekends from mid-November into late December and includes a meeting with Father Christmas, included with the day ticket. Off-peak midweek dates outside school holidays are the quietest. The park usually closes the first week of January and reopens at the end of February half-term.

about the piece in your home

It has been a meaningful gift for parents and now-grown children who count Gulliver's among their early family memories. A Small or Keepsake with a handwritten studio note carries the nostalgia without overshadowing a small room.

The bright colour and storybook composition suit a child's bedroom, a playroom, or a Whimsical Modern family room. It also reads well in a Maximalist hallway grouped with other pieces.

Yes. The current move toward Whimsigothic and Storybook Modern leans on saturated colour and place-rooted imagery, which is the lane this tile sits in.

A single Large reads well above a console or a child's chest of drawers. For a playroom wall, a 4-tile Mural holds the space; a 9-tile Mural anchors a larger family room.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any wet or vertical install. The colour is infused into the ceramic surface and will not lift in steam or warm shower air.

A microfibre cloth and water. The finish does not need polish or sealant. Avoid abrasive pads and ammonia-based sprays, which dull the surface over time.

Yes. Every piece in the WenderVista atlas is made in our Knoxville studio under Reid Wender, our curator. We do not licence outside imagery and we do not resell.
