a note from the studio

A twenty-five square kilometre island off Abu Dhabi's main coast, reshaped over the last two decades into one of the Gulf's leisure capitals. Yas Marina Circuit carries the closing round of the Formula One season under floodlights every November or December. Ferrari World's red shell, Warner Bros. World, and the Yas Waterworld lagoons sit a short walk apart, with the Yas Marina hotel arched across the front straight.

about Yas Island

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Yas Island lies about ten kilometres east of the main island of Abu Dhabi, across a short causeway off the E10 road that runs north toward Dubai. It covers roughly 25 square kilometres of largely reshaped land and shallow lagoon, developed since 2006 by Aldar Properties as a mixed leisure, residential, and event destination. Abu Dhabi International Airport sits across the channel on the mainland, fifteen minutes by road, making the island the most accessible major attraction cluster in the emirate.

the year

The island's anchor date is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, run on the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina Circuit and traditionally the closing round of the Formula One World Championship in late November or early December. The circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke, opened in 2009, and remains one of the few F1 races run as a twilight event, starting in daylight and finishing under permanent floodlight. Concerts in the Etihad Park bookend the race weekend.

the visit

Four of the island's anchor attractions sit within a short walk of each other: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, under the largest single roof structure in the world at 200,000 square metres; Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi; Yas Waterworld; and the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi aquarium complex, opened in 2023. Yas Mall and the Yas Marina with its hotel arched across the front straight complete the cluster. The W Abu Dhabi Yas Island hotel and the public Yas Beach round out the stay options.

common questions

What people ask.

A few questions we get about Yas Island — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

Yas Island sits off the eastern coast of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, reached by causeway from the E10 highway. It is about ten kilometres east of Abu Dhabi's main island and fifteen minutes from the international airport.

It is best known for the Yas Marina Circuit, which has hosted the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the season finale since 2009, and for the cluster of theme parks built around the circuit.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, which opened in 2023. All four sit within walking distance of each other and of Yas Mall.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs in late November or early December, traditionally the final race of the Formula One World Championship. The race begins in daylight and finishes under permanent floodlighting.

Aldar Properties, an Abu Dhabi developer, has master-planned and built out Yas Island since 2006. The island combines residential neighbourhoods, hotels, the F1 circuit, theme parks, and the Yas Mall retail centre.

By road across the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge or the older Yas Causeway from the Abu Dhabi–Dubai E10 highway. Abu Dhabi International Airport is a ten-kilometre drive across the channel on the mainland.

about the piece in your home

Yas Marina is one of the most recognisable circuits on the F1 calendar, and the lit Sunday-night finish has become the season's signature image. A Medium or Large reads as a knowing gift for a serious fan.

The deep night-blue palette and metallic highlights settle into Modern, Jewel-tone, and Industrial-modern rooms. It also reads well in a quieter Minimalist scheme as a single colour statement.

A single Large reads well above a standard sofa. A four-tile Mural carries the marina sweep; a nine-tile Mural suits a long feature wall in a bar, study, or media room.

Yes. Choose the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any splash-prone wall. The colour is slowly infused into the ceramic surface and holds against moisture and steam.

A soft microfibre cloth and clean water is enough. Avoid abrasives and solvent cleaners. The thin glossy finish wipes clean without polish or wax.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is original to the studio, curated by Reid Wender, and produced in-house in Knoxville, Tennessee. No licensing, no third-party reproduction.
