a note from the studio

The largest space-frame roof ever built, painted Ferrari red, sitting on the flat of Yas Island. Underneath it, Formula Rossa accelerates to 240 kilometres an hour in under five seconds — the fastest roller coaster on Earth. The roof is shaped like the curve of a 250 GTO seen from above. From the F1 circuit next door, the whole island reads like one continuous piece of red. — from the studio

about Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi sits on Yas Island, about 30 kilometres east of central Abu Dhabi and a few minutes' walk from the Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit. Opened on 4 November 2010, it was the first Ferrari-branded theme park in the world. The building is the largest space-frame structure on Earth, covering about 200,000 square metres beneath a single red roof. It was designed by Benoy with engineering by Halvorson and Partners, and the roof silhouette is taken from the curve of the Ferrari 250 GTO.

the stone

The roof is the structure. A single Ferrari-red GRP shell, around 200,000 square metres, carried on a triangular space frame whose longest unsupported span is over 100 metres. The roof's apex rises to about 50 metres above the desert floor; the Ferrari logo at the centre, around 65 metres across, is large enough to be photographed from orbit. The roof is engineered for the Gulf climate — sun load, sand, and the occasional 50-degree summer day — and is finished in a pigment matched to Rosso Corsa.

the visit

The park is reached by car or taxi from Abu Dhabi (about 35 minutes) or Dubai (about 75 minutes), and is linked to the rest of Yas Island by a covered walkway from the Yas Mall and Yas Plaza hotels. A multi-park pass through Yas Island Theme Parks bundles entry with Yas Waterworld and Warner Bros World. Opening hours run from 11:00 to roughly 20:00 most days, with adult day passes around AED 345. The headline ride, Formula Rossa, reaches 240 km/h in 4.9 seconds and is the fastest roller coaster in the world.

common questions

What people ask.

A few questions we get about Ferrari World Abu Dhabi — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

Ferrari World stands on Yas Island, about 30 kilometres east of central Abu Dhabi and roughly 75 minutes by car from Dubai. It is part of the Yas Island theme-park cluster alongside Yas Waterworld and Warner Bros World.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi opened on 4 November 2010 as the first Ferrari-branded theme park in the world. It has since been joined by Ferrari Land at PortAventura in Spain, opened in 2017.

Formula Rossa is the park's signature roller coaster and the fastest in the world, accelerating from 0 to 240 kilometres per hour in 4.9 seconds. Riders wear goggles because of airborne sand and insects at speed.

The single red roof covers roughly 200,000 square metres and is the largest space-frame structure ever built. The central Ferrari logo measures about 65 metres across and is visible from orbiting satellites.

The architect was Benoy, with engineering by Halvorson and Partners. The roof silhouette is taken from the side profile of the Ferrari 250 GTO, one of the most valuable production cars ever made.

Adult day passes are around AED 345 at the gate, with multi-park bundles available through Yas Island Theme Parks that include Yas Waterworld and Warner Bros World. Opening hours typically run 11:00 to 20:00.

about the piece in your home

Yes. The piece reads as a place, not a poster — the GTO-curve roof and the Yas Marina horizon are recognisable to anyone who follows the sport. A Medium or Large with a handwritten note carries well.

The Rosso Corsa red and desert palette suit Modern, Garage-luxury, and Jewel-tone Maximalist rooms. It anchors a home office, a man cave, or a media room against a neutral or charcoal wall.

Yes. The current direction in motorsport décor favours specific circuit-and-architecture pieces over generic car prints. The Yas Island silhouette has become one of the most recognisable in Formula 1.

A single Large works above a console or media unit. Above a three-seat sofa, a 4-tile Mural carries the roofline at the right scale; a 9-tile Mural suits a longer sectional or feature wall.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any vertical installation that sees splash or steam. Both are scratch-resistant and the colour stays in the surface.

A soft microfibre cloth with plain water is enough. Do not use abrasive pads or ammonia-based cleaners. The colour lives in the ceramic surface and will not fade with normal cleaning.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is original to the studio, made in Knoxville, Tennessee, and not licensed from any third party. Reid Wender curates each place that enters the atlas.
