a note from the studio

The home of Juventus FC, opened in 2011 on the footprint of the old Stadio delle Alpi. A compact ground for roughly 41,500 supporters, with the touchline four metres from the seats. The Alps close the northern horizon on clear evenings. Observed from the studio, an ordinary cathedral of Italian football, held in colour on the tile.

Juventus Stadium, on ceramic.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Juventus Stadium

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

The Allianz Stadium, still widely known by its original name Juventus Stadium, sits in the Vallette district at the northern edge of Turin, in the Italian region of Piemonte. It opened on 8 September 2011 on the same site as the demolished Stadio delle Alpi, a much larger venue built for the 1990 World Cup that the club had never warmed to. The new ground holds about 41,507 spectators, was financed entirely by Juventus FC, and was the first stadium in Italy owned outright by its club.

the stone

The architects, Gino Zavanella and Hernando Suárez, drew the stands close to the pitch: the front row sits just 7.5 metres from the touchline, less than half the distance at the old Delle Alpi. Two cable-stayed pylons, each 84 metres tall, carry the lightweight roof. The exterior is clad in dark anodised steel and pale travertine, with the names of more than 30,000 founding subscribers etched into the entry plaza, a record kept on stone rather than paper.

the year

The Italian football season runs from late August to late May, with Juventus playing roughly nineteen home league fixtures plus Coppa Italia and European nights. The 2014 UEFA Europa League final was played here; the 2022 UEFA Women's Euro final was also held at the ground. The Juventus Museum, opened in 2012 alongside the stadium, displays the club's trophies, including 36 Serie A titles, the most of any Italian club, and is open to visitors most days of the year outside match windows.

What people ask.

A few questions we get about Juventus Stadium — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

On Corso Gaetano Scirea in the Vallette district at the northern edge of Turin, Piemonte, about seven kilometres north of the city centre. It was built on the footprint of the demolished Stadio delle Alpi.

Allianz Stadium, under a naming-rights deal that began in 2017. Most supporters and Italian media continue to call it Juventus Stadium, and the original name remains in common use.

On 8 September 2011, with a friendly against Notts County, the English club whose black-and-white kit Juventus copied in 1903. The first competitive goal was scored by Stephan Lichtsteiner.

About 41,507 seats, intentionally smaller than the old Stadio delle Alpi (around 67,000) so the ground would fill on ordinary match days. The front row of seating sits 7.5 metres from the touchline.

Juventus Football Club. It was the first stadium in Italy financed and owned outright by its club, opening the way for similar ownership models elsewhere in Serie A.

Yes. The Juventus Museum and stadium tour operate most days of the year outside match windows. The tour passes the dressing rooms, the tunnel and the pitchside benches.

about the piece in your home

Customers have chosen these tiles for lifelong tifosi, season-ticket holders, and family in the Piemontese diaspora. The ground is a specific place a supporter knows in the body. A Small or Medium with a handwritten note from the studio carries well.

The black, white and silver palette of the artwork suits Modernist studies, Industrial-leaning offices, and warm Minimalist rooms built around oak, leather and brushed steel.

Above a standard sofa, a single Large reads from across the room. For a wider wall, a four-tile Mural opens the field; a nine-tile Mural becomes the room's centrepiece.

Yes. Choose the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any space with steam or splashes; both are scratch-resistant. The Glossy finish is for framed wall pieces away from direct water.

A soft microfibre cloth and warm water. No abrasive pads, no harsh cleaners. The colour is held inside the ceramic surface, beneath a thin protective layer, so the image will not wear off.

Yes. Every WenderVista tile is an original piece curated by Reid Wender and produced in our Knoxville studio. We do not license the work to other makers.
