Where it lives

Not only on a wall.

A small tile on the nightstand catching the morning. A larger one above the fire. Yours, wherever you spend the slow hours.

Among the books, a 6-inch leaning into the spines
Beside the kettle, a 12-inch propped
Down a quiet hall, an 18-inch floating off the wall
Above the fire, the 24-inch in a walnut surround
a note from the studio

A launched roller coaster inside a translucent canopy on the eastern edge of Shanghai Disneyland. Riders straddle lightcycles instead of sitting in a train, and the launch fires them under that glowing shell at speeds approaching a hundred kilometres an hour. The original opened with the park in 2016. A near-twin opened in Florida in 2023, but Shanghai still keeps the canopy that started the design.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Tron Lightcycle Power Run

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Tron Lightcycle Power Run sits in Tomorrowland at Shanghai Disneyland Park, on the eastern edge of Shanghai's Pudong New Area. It opened with the park on June 16, 2016, the day Walt Disney Imagineering's first mainland-China resort welcomed its first guests. The attraction was the headline coaster of opening day and remains the signature Tomorrowland anchor. A near-identical version, also designed by Imagineering with Vekoma's launch system, opened at Magic Kingdom in Florida in April 2023, but the Shanghai installation came first and set the design.

the light

The defining image of the ride is the canopy. A long translucent shell arches over the outdoor portion of the track, lit from within by sequenced neon lines that pulse in the show's signature cyan-and-orange palette. From outside the park, after dark, the canopy reads as a slow blue heartbeat above the skyline of Pudong. From the cycles themselves, riders enter the canopy at full launch speed, the light passing overhead in a single bright streak before the track turns hard into the show building.

the visit

The ride uses a single-train launch and accelerates to roughly 95 kilometres per hour in about three seconds. Riders mount the lightcycles in a forward-leaning posture, which is part of why the minimum-height requirement is 122 centimetres. Standby queues during peak season often run past two hours, so most guests use the resort's Premier Access paid line-skip or the standard digital reservation system. The Shanghai park publishes daily operating hours on its official site; the ride generally opens with the park and closes earlier than the gates.

about the place

The original opened on June 16, 2016, the same day Shanghai Disneyland Park opened to the public. It was the headline attraction of the resort's opening day in Pudong.

Inside Tomorrowland at Shanghai Disneyland Park, in the Pudong New Area on the eastern side of Shanghai. The park is reached by the Shanghai Metro Line 11 terminus station.

The launch accelerates riders to roughly 95 kilometres per hour in about three seconds, making it one of the faster roller coasters operated by Walt Disney Imagineering anywhere in the world.

Yes. Riders must be at least 122 centimetres tall. The forward-leaning lightcycle posture is part of the show, so the rule is enforced strictly at the boarding station.

Close, but the Shanghai version came first. The Magic Kingdom installation opened in April 2023 using the same Vekoma launch system and Imagineering ride layout, with small theming differences.

about the piece in your home

It has been a meaningful piece for customers with a specific memory of the ride. A Small or Medium reads well on a desk or shelf, with a handwritten studio note about the visit.

The cyan-and-amber palette carries Maximalist rooms and modern interiors with strong colour, and softer Minimalist Asian spaces where it serves as the single colour accent on the wall.

A single Large covers a standard sofa wall. A 4-tile Mural reads as one wide composition, and a 9-tile Mural anchors a larger living room without crowding the space.

Yes. Order it in the Dura Satin or Matte finish. Both are scratch-resistant and built for vertical surfaces with moisture, including backsplashes, shower walls, and a child's bathroom.

A soft microfibre cloth and warm water are enough. The colour is infused into the ceramic surface, so normal cleaning will not lift or fade the image over time.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is hand-finished in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee. The image is original to Reid Wender's eye and not licensed from anywhere else.
