a note from the studio

The smallest of the Disney castles, set on reclaimed land at Penny's Bay, with the green ridge of Lantau rising behind it. The Castle of Magical Dreams went pastel and many-spired in 2020, a deliberate echo of thirteen princesses and queens rather than one. After dark the towers light, and the ferry across to Sunny Bay carries families home quietly.

Hong Kong Disneyland, on ceramic.

Each tile is finished by hand in our Knoxville studio. Artwork is slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, and rests beneath a thin glossy finish. The colour lives in the surface, not on top of it.

about Hong Kong Disneyland

The place, in three passes.

A little of what's known, in case you fall down the rabbit hole — or want to go see it yourself.
the place

Hong Kong Disneyland sits on Lantau Island, on land reclaimed at Penny's Bay, opened on 12 September 2005 as the first Disney resort in Greater China. It covers about 27 hectares, the smallest castle park in the resort family, reached by the MTR Disneyland Resort line from Sunny Bay station in roughly four minutes. The site rises against the green ridge of Yam O, with Hong Kong International Airport a short coach ride west on the same island and the Tian Tan Buddha higher in the Lantau interior.

the visit

Gates open most days at ten and close around eight, with extended evening hours during Lunar New Year and Halloween Time. A single-day ticket covers all seven themed lands, including Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, and the World of Frozen that opened in November 2023. The park is reached by MTR from Sunny Bay station in about four minutes, or by complimentary shuttle from the three Disney hotels along the bay road. Most guests arrive between ten and eleven; the lightest hour is the last one before close.

the year

The park keeps a Hong Kong calendar through the year. Lunar New Year drapes red lanterns over Main Street and walks the God of Wealth through the parade route in late January or February. Spring carries the Carnivale of Stars; summer brings night-time water shows on the castle hub. Halloween Time runs through October with the Mystic Manor overlay and after-dark zones for older guests. Christmas dresses the Castle of Magical Dreams in white lights for a season that, this far south of the Tropic of Cancer, never quite turns cold.

common questions

What people ask.

A few questions we get about Hong Kong Disneyland — and about bringing the piece home.
about the place

The park sits on Lantau Island, on reclaimed land at Penny's Bay, about thirty minutes by MTR from Hong Kong Central. Lantau also holds the international airport and the Tian Tan Buddha.

Hong Kong Disneyland opened on 12 September 2005, the first Disney resort in Greater China. Shanghai Disneyland followed in 2016. The park has expanded with Mystic Point, Grizzly Gulch, and the World of Frozen.

The reimagined castle, opened in November 2020, replaces the original Sleeping Beauty Castle. Its thirteen spires draw from thirteen Disney princesses and queens rather than one, designed by Walt Disney Imagineering with architect Robert Coker.

Take the MTR Tung Chung line to Sunny Bay, then transfer to the Disneyland Resort line for a four-minute ride to the park gate. The full journey runs about thirty minutes.

The themed land based on Arendelle opened in November 2023, the first Frozen land at any Disney park worldwide. It centres on Frozen Ever After, a boat ride through scenes from the film.

Hong Kong is the smaller park at about 27 hectares, with the older 2005 footprint. Shanghai covers about 400 hectares and opened in 2016, with the Enchanted Storybook Castle and a Tron coaster.

about the piece in your home

For many of our customers, the Castle of Magical Dreams reads as a Hong Kong landmark in its own right. A Small or a Coaster Set with a handwritten note carries well to a family with Lantau memories.

The pastel palette and the deep blue night sky sit well in coastal-modern rooms, in soft Japandi nurseries, and in jewel-tone maximalist hallways. The stained-glass treatment gives it presence without strict colour matching.

The piece works in the soft-pastel and storybook-modern nursery direction that has held since 2024. The Keepsake and Small sizes sit comfortably above a changing table or beside a low bookshelf.

A single Large reads cleanly above a console; over a sofa we suggest a 4-tile Mural for most rooms, or a 9-tile Mural for a long wall above a sectional.

Yes. Order the Dura Satin or Matte finish for any installation near steam, splash, or vertical scrubbing. The colour lives in the surface and will not fade or lift.

A soft microfibre cloth and a little water is all you need. No solvents, no abrasives. The thin glossy finish wipes clean and resists fingerprints.

Yes. Every WenderVista piece is original to the studio, curated by Reid Wender as part of a single atlas of places. We do not license or resell third-party imagery.
